Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C. (MWL) proudly announces the opening of its new branch office in California. The office is located at 500 N. State College Blvd, Suite 1100, Orange, California 92868, with convenient access to state and federal courts in Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Central Valley. While our national subrogation program still produces tremendous subrogation results for our clients by utilizing a Local Counsel Network of contracted law firms strategically located throughout all 50 states, Mexico, and Canada, the volume of recovery work we have pending in California calls for this new branch office on the west coast.
The California office will be overseen by MWL’s newest partner, Hector Salitrero, who has for years been handling MWL subrogation work in the Golden State. Hector is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in California and is also licensed in Wisconsin. Hector is an experienced trial lawyer who graduated from the U.C.L.A. School of Law in 1976, and has since specialized in a wide spectrum of insurance subrogation law, including serving as Senior Staff Attorney for The Hartford Insurance Company and Senior Field Attorney for Gibson & Sharps (Trover Solutions). Hector brings a wealth of insurance industry experience to the already stacked subrogation team at MWL.
Hector’s experience as a trial lawyer is also unparalleled. He worked as a senior associate/team leader for over a decade for the plaintiff’s firm of Sayre & Chavez, handling major plaintiff’s litigation. He served as senior associate for major insurance defense firms, including the national firm of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard, & Smith, LLP. As such he has a broad spectrum of tort/personal injury litigation experience which he brings to bear in his subrogation practice. Like the rest of MWL’s litigators, Hector is a plaintiff’s trial lawyer for the insurance industry. He began his career as a prosecutor, first as a Deputy District Attorney for Milwaukee County and then as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. He has over 60 jury trials under his belt and a great deal of experience as a first chair litigator. He has also led teams of attorneys in major litigation around the country. In addition, Hector boasts extensive appellate experience. Hector also holds a certificate as a mediator awarded by the Orange County Human Relations Commission and has done pro bono volunteer work for the Orange County Superior Court.
Hector has been an active member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP), regularly attending conferences and publishing articles in NASP’s Subrogator magazine. He has also been certified by NASP as a Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional (CSRP). Hector is bilingual in Spanish and is well-versed in issues presented by California’s diverse workforce.
Hector is active in southern California civic activities, including service as member of the advisory board of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California and he is on the board of his homeowner’s association.
Hector’s hobbies include reading biographies, golf, and chess. He can be contacted at hsalitrero@mwl-law.com. Both the New Orleans office and the California office can be reached through MWL’s main telephone number (800) 637-9176.
