Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C. is pleased to announce the election of Richard A. Schuster, Esq. and Ashton T. Kirsch, Esq., to shareholder status in the firm. The firm is excited to welcome these two extremely talented attorneys as shareholders of our firm. They have demonstrated that they have the legal skills, dedication, and work ethic necessary to become an owner of the law firm, making them both extremely valuable to our firm and to our clients’ success.
Richard A. Schuster
Rich prosecutes large and complex subrogation actions-especially those involving Chinese manufacturers-and also defends product manufacturers, so he understands both sides of the equation. He has handled thousands of cases in almost every state in the country, and is Mandarin Chinese proficient, allowing him to communicate personally and directly with Chinese brokers and claims handlers. Rich attended the National Chengchi University’s (國立政治大學) IMBA program in New Taipei, Taiwan, and practiced in Taiwan for several years before joining MWL. Richard graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Wisconsin Law Review and was a Bruce Beilfuss Award recipient. Ashton T. Kirsch
Ashton litigates subrogation cases involving large loss casualty, commercial auto, transportation and cargo, and workers’ compensation. He has built and grown the MWL commercial auto and cargo/transportation group into the thriving sector of our firm’s subrogation practice. He has been retained by other attorneys around the nation to serve as an expert and consult/train on both the MCS-90 Endorsement and the Carmack Amendment. Ashton obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Law School, focusing on finance and corporate litigation. In 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Ashton was named a Wisconsin Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, an award given only to the top 2.5% of lawyers in the State. Ashton was also recently recognized as CLM’s Phenom Under 40. View Mr. Kirsch’s full bio here.
