Biography

Wesley Hazen is an associate attorney at the firm’s Austin, Texas branch office. Wesley’s practice focuses on automobile, maritime, property and casualty, and workers’ compensation subrogation cases throughout Texas and the South Central states of Oklahoma and New Mexico. Born and raised in the small town of Farmington in the northwest corner of New Mexico, Wesley graduated from New Mexico State University in 2012 and worked in several positions surrounding the legal profession before finally deciding to attend law school. During the year before entering law school, Wes moved to Austin and worked with the Texas Legislative Council; a non-partisan agency charged with conducting research and administrative assistance to the Texas Legislature. It was during this year that Wes fell in love with central Texas. Upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2022, where he was active within numerous student organizations and served as Managing Editor of the Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Energy Journal (“ONE-J”), Wes moved back south to begin his legal career.

Since graduating, Wes has endeavored to develop his legal skills and pursue just compensation for his clients; predominately in the plaintiff’s personal injury area of law. He is thrilled to join Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer S.C. as he continues to develop his litigation skills while also pursuing optimal outcomes for his clients and their legal matter.

Fun Fact

Outside of work, Wes enjoys exploring Central Texas, attending and participating in stand-up comedy open-mics, creative writing, and travelling internationally to visit friends and immerse himself in other cultures.
