Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C. (“MWL”) is pleased to announce that Sara Schmeling has joined the firm as an insurance litigation associate. Sara’s practice areas include insurance litigation and subrogation of all lines of insurance, with an emphasis on workers’ compensation subrogation. Sara obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Political Science (with an emphasis on Law) from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin and her Juris Doctorate from Ava Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida. Prior to joining MWL, Sara was the managing attorney of the Wisconsin branch office of Keith D. Weiner & Association Co., L.P.A. in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Prior to that, Sara was with Blommer Peterman, S.C. in Brookfield, Wisconsin. When Sara isn’t bringing her experience to bear on matters entrusted to us by subrogation clients, she enjoys practicing yoga and watching movies, including her favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz. She also has a talent for baking and it is reputed that her cookies, cakes, and breads cannot be resisted, even by her. This may explain the yoga. Sara can be reached at sschmeling@mwl-law.com.
MWL is also pleased to announce that Amy J. Smith has joined the firm as a subrogation associate. Amy’s practice areas include subrogation of health insurance, automobile, occupational accident, and other lines of insurance. Amy obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, cum laude, from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and her Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prior to joining MWL, Amy was an associate with Kohner, Mann & Kailas, S.C. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a creditor litigation associate with J. Peterman Legal Group, Ltd., in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Amy also worked with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge with regard to the fuzzy interface between litigation and the SSA. Amy has a passion for cycling – especially along Lake Michigan and the Oak Leaf Trail, and the Ozaukee Interurban Trail, which follows the old railway route between Milwaukee and Sheboygan. Amy also enjoys yoga and has a talent for knitting, which will come in handy for MWL’s annual ugly sweater contest. Amy can be reached at asmith@mwl-law.com.
We are very grateful and excited to have Sara and Amy join MWL’s litigation team. Please join us in making them feel welcome.
