Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer, S.C. (“MWL”) is pleased to announce that Ashton Kirsch has joined the firm as an insurance litigation associate. Ashton’s practice areas include insurance litigation, subrogation, workers’ compensation, health insurance and ERISA. Ashton obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History in 2011 from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in Madison, Wisconsin and his Juris Doctor in 2014 from the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, Wisconsin.
Prior to joining MWL, Ashton was legal counsel with a major small business funding and advocacy business in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was also the owner and general counsel for a real estate development consulting firm. Ashton is an experienced politician, winning a three-way primary as a candidate for Wisconsin’s 81st Assembly District in 2014 and is a former member of Governor Scott Walker’s legal team. He also served as a judicial intern to Justice Paul Higginbotham in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, IV District – the first and only African-American to serve on that court. Ashton brings precisely the sort of “real world” experience that makes an excellent litigator for the insurance industry.
In his personal life, Ashton enjoys spending time with his six year-old daughter, taking her hiking, camping, fishing, and participating in many other outdoor activities.
