Matthew M. Spolsky joined our firm as an associate attorney in our California office. Matt is no stranger to the firm having served as a hearing representative before the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (W.C.A.B.) for MWL prior to passing the bar exam. Matt has been carrying a heavy caseload of claims and appearing before the W.C.A.B. on behalf of healthcare service plans seeking reimbursement from workers’ compensation carriers in pending claims. He studied for and took the difficult California State Bar Exam while working at MWL and was sworn in on January 15, 2021. Matt brings with him a wealth of administrative workers’ compensation experience with the W.C.A.B. and will be handling additional subrogation cases throughout California.

Matt is a graduate of the University of California-Irvine and Western State College of Law in Irvine. His experience includes working as a judicial extern for Hon. Nathan Scott in the Orange County Superior Court as well as a clerking experience with a number of southern California law firms.

When Matt is not managing his caseload, he enjoys riding mountain bikes in the hills of California, cycling along the coast, surfing different beaches, and trying coffee in new places along the way. Matt also enjoys fishing with his girlfriend in Northern California. Matt loves sports as well and is looking forward to attending hockey, baseball, and football games once life can return to normal!

Matt primarily handles workers’ compensation lien matters, property and casualty, workers’ compensation, and automobile subrogation cases throughout California and across the country. He believes strongly in preparation to uncover and aggressively pursue subrogation potential on behalf of a client. Matt’s understanding of the workers’ compensation case in chief provides welcome assistance to MWL’s subrogation practice.
