Constance A. Smith is a senior litigation associate in our Santa Ana, California branch office, where she will be handling medical subrogation work, among other lines of subrogation. Constance boasts an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Before attending law school, Constance worked 13 years as a Registered Nurse. She worked extensively in Intensive Care and the Emergency Department at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California and served in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Constance graduated cum laude from St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio, Texas, and served as Staff Editor for St. Mary’s Law Journal. She then became a briefing attorney for the Honorable Ronald B. King, Chief Justice of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas. She moved to California and practiced civil litigation with the Burbank, California law firm of Marrone, Robinson, Frederick & Foster, defending and representing general surgeons, plastic surgeons, nurses, and hospitals in all phases of medical malpractice litigation. Constance returned to Texas and practiced with a medical malpractice plaintiff’s firm in San Antonio and then returned to California where she worked for Legal Services Orange County in Santa Ana, California, just a few blocks from MWL’s California branch office.
In Constance’s free time, she participates in a running club. At least once a year, she travels to new places and participates in running events to explore out-of-the-way, non-tourist places. In the fall, she loves watching college football and enjoys a good cross-word puzzle too.
